Man wounded in Valderrama shooting

ANTIQUE – A 25-year-old man was in critical condition after he was shot in Sitio Os-os, Barangay Pandanan, Valderrama town in this province on Thursday night, January 30.

Valderrama police said Darwin Gomez was reportedly walking home with companions when he encountered the suspect identified as alias “Bem-Bem,” a 31-year-old laborer and resident of the same barangay.

The suspect, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, suddenly opened fire, hitting Gomez in the lower left portion of his back.

Police said the victim was rushed to Valderrama Municipal Hospital but was later transferred to Angel Salazar General Memorial Hospital in San Jose de Buenavista town for further care.

Officers of the Valderrama Municipal Police Station launched a hot pursuit operation against the suspect, who fled after the incident, taking with him the firearm used in the attack./PN
