
ILOILO – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) organized a Peace Covenant Signing on February 5 at Camp Francisco U. Sumagaysay Sr. in Santa Barbara town, reaffirming a collective commitment to ensuring a fair and peaceful 2025 national and local elections.
The event, which focused on preventing election-related violence and corruption, was led by IPPO director, Police Colonel Bayani Razalan, with Atty. Reinier Layson, the Iloilo provincial election supervisor, serving as the guest of honor and speaker.
The ceremony brought together political candidates, law enforcement agencies, and representatives from various government sectors, all pledging to uphold clean, issue-based elections.
“The Peace Covenant Signing is crucial as we approach the 2025 elections. It is vital for government agencies, local officials, candidates, and all relevant stakeholders to reaffirm our collective commitment to protecting the integrity of our democratic process,” said Razalan.
Candidates such as Dr. Kathryn Joyce Gorriceta (for 2nd District representative) and former police officer Charlie Sustento (for 4th District representative), attended the event, along with several Sangguniang Panlalawigan hopefuls – Jo Ann Basco Germinanda and Juan Miguel Mendoza Flores (1st District), Anthony Bennette Margarico and Mark Palabrica (3rd District), Antonio Bayoneta Parcon, Jonathan Arabejo Pinuela, and Rolando Biaca Distura (4th District), and John Carlo Alvarez Ong and Dr. Darl Tupas (5th District).
Key institutions, such as the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, Department of Education, and Department of the Interior and Local Government, also supported the initiative./PN
