ILOILO City – A rivalry between groups of students allegedly led to a violent altercation outside the Iloilo City National High School in Molo district yesterday afternoon, February 20.

According to the Molo police station, two boys aged 15 and 16 years old were wounded after a brawl erupted between two groups involving senior high school and Grade 7 students outside the school.

Authorities recovered four knives at the scene.

Police Captain Ryan Crist Inot, chief of the Molo police station, said that tensions had already been brewing inside the school before the incident.

“There was already tension inside the school prior to the incident. When one group stepped outside, that’s when the commotion broke out. The 15-year-old sustained an injury on his left hand,” Inot said.

He added that the 15-year-old student was in stable condition, though police have yet to determine the exact nature of his wounds. The 16-year-old meanwhile is currently receiving treatment at Iloilo St. Paul’s Hospital.

As of this writing, officers of the Molo police station were still investigating the incident to identify the individuals responsible for initiating the fight./PN
