ILOILO City – A Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councilor and his friend were arrested in a buy-bust operation on Friday, February 21, in Barangay Batu, Passi City, Iloilo.
Aliases “Onyok”, 21, SK councilor, and “JunJun”, 21, were both residents of said place.
Passi City police caught the suspects around 3:50 p.m. after they sold suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer.
Approximately 12 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P81,600 were seized.
“Our men took two weeks of surveillance and monitoring before he [Onyok] agreed with our negotiation,” said Colonel Bayani Razalan, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
According to reports, the suspects had been obtaining their illegal drugs supply from San Enrique town and distributed it to Passi City.
The suspects were detained at the Passi City police station. They will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Razalan lauded the unwavering dedication of the Passi City police station.
“I commend our operating unit for their bravery and dedication to proving to the communities that they are safe from the scourge of illegal drugs. The IPPO will continue to be relentless in our fight against the drug peddlers,” he said./PN
