Politics, with all its enticing realities of fame, power and fortune, actually never lasts. However, at the end of the spectrum, when all political relevancies end, what is of real essence is to actually get elected to what matters most in this life.

In our world today, there are few things more iconic than drones. Drones are now heavily used in modern-day warfare, as in the case of Russia-Ukraine war.

Interestingly now, let’s compare these war drones to our modern-day politicians who has also mastered their own version of “political warfare”. You’ll be amazed of their uncanny similarities.

Modern-day politicians, also scan the horizon—but not for enemies. They’re scanning for political advantages, new political alliances, current public opinions which they can turn to their favor, and maximize benefits to their personal portfolios. Politicians always scan which side is offering the juiciest benefits before they finally strike their target.

Target Identification

Drones, once it has surveyed the field, then locks onto a target with laser-like precision. There’s no hesitation. The mission is clear—neutralize the enemy.

Politicians, similarly zero in on their targets—except that these targets are usually things

like political votes, pork barrel funds, or the perfect time to grandstand for media mileage.

Conclusion: Politicians must win what matters most

So, what if a seasoned politician wins all elections on earth, but which all the gains they achieved will just be erased and lost in human memory after only ten years or less. In the end, people only choose what they want to remember and acknowledge.

Let’s get real. it’s not really winning the political war that matters most. The bottom line is, what kind of war is really worth fighting for in this life? An election victory is only temporary. It’s only nice while it lasts. There must be more to life than this.

But there’s a real, significant “election” war every politician must really win “for all the marbles”, and which the reward is eternal, and which gains can never be taken away.

Wouldn’t it be nice, for a change, that a really wise politician also pursues winning first the war for the things that are ETERNAL, in this life and life hereafter?

In retrospect, let me paraphrase a biblical truth in Mark 8:36, to highlight its relevance: “What does it profit a shrewd politician, even if he repeatedly wins all elections in this planet, again and again and again, and if in exchange he also morally compromised heavily, only to lose his own election to God’s redemption?”
