ANTIQUE – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) tapped 1,460 public school teachers in this province to serve as members of the Electoral Board for the May 12 national and local elections.

Comelec Region 6’s Acting Assistant Director Wil Arceño said that training for teachers will be between March 2 to 18.

“The 1,460 teachers in Antique will be trained on how to operate and troubleshoot the automated counting machine (ACM) as well as the transmission of ballots,” Arceño, also concurrent Antique Provincial Election Supervisor, said.

Antique Chamber of Commerce, Inc. president Rani Rodriguez said that previous Comelec roadshows increased the confidence of businesses to participate in the elections because they were familiarized with the ACM, especially its security features.

He also appealed to senatorial and party-list candidates to remove their illegal posters.

“We are saddened to note that there are still illegal senatorial and party-list campaign materials in public areas,” he said. (PNA)
