BACOLOD City – Residents from several barangays here as well as students participated in a pottery workshop as part of the city’s five-day celebration of this year’s National Arts Month.
Spearheaded by the City Tourism Office (CTO), the workshop was held on February 26, at Ayala Malls Capitol Central.
Maicaella Marie Esmilla of Arthur’s Pottery Workshop provided attendees with a hands-on experience in shaping and molding clay into unique pieces.
Participants eagerly engaged in the workshop, showcasing their creativity while learning the intricate craft of pottery. The event not only highlighted the importance of traditional arts but also served as a therapeutic and enriching activity for the community.
Kagawad Nancy Loplop of Barangay Villamonte expressed her appreciation for the initiative.
“This event is really fun, and at the same time, very helpful to the people. It is commendable, and I hope that the tourism office will continue to organize more workshops like this in the future,” she said.
The success of the pottery workshop underscores the city’s commitment to promoting local arts and culture, engaging the community in creative endeavors, and making artistic expression more accessible to the public.
The city’s Arts Month celebration kicked off on February 24. It was graced by Coro Bacoleno, the City Chorale, and Eliel Chadd Taguines, the country’s youngest pianist.
“Their musical renditions captivated the audience, setting the tone for an inspiring week-long celebration of creativity and artistic expression,” the CTO said.
One of the highlights of the opening day event was the live portrait painting and live weaving demonstrations, offering attendees a firsthand experience of the artistry and skill involved in these crafts.
The CTO further said that more workshops and events are lined up to further inspire and empower local artists and enthusiasts./PN
