MANILA – Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws battled back from a set down to defeat Adamson University Lady Falcons, 23-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-10, in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball on Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Gerzel Petallo continued her fine play for the Lady Tamaraws, finishing with a team-high of 16 points, from 14 attacks and two service aces, to go with 15 excellent receptions and five excellent digs.

Jean Asis contributed 15 points, from six attacks, five service aces, and three blocks, while Faida Bakanke ended with 13 points as the Lady Tamaraws notched their third straight win for a 4-2 win-loss slate.

Lady Tamaraws head coach Christina Salak said that she is urging her players to continue learning from their mistakes each game for them to reach their goals this season.

Malaking motivation sa mga bata itong panalo na ito, and of course, gusto rin namin improve pa ‘yung kung ano ‘yung kulang namin today kasi ang marami pa ring lapses,” Salak said after the game.

“Hindi kami dapat nagkukulang, dapat i-improve namin most especially doon sa mga small balls going against sa ibang teams sa UAAP, dapat nai-eliminate namin ‘yung mga errors na ganoon,” she added.

Shaina Nitura finished with 24 points, on 23 attacks and one block, while Frances Mordi added 12 points, including 11 attacks, as the Lady Falcons dropped to a 2-3 record in the standings.

Meanwhile, De La Salle University Lady Spikers recovered from a second-set loss to defeat University of the East Lady Warriors, 25-12, 23-25, 25-14, 25-17.

Negrense Angel Canino had a near triple-double showing of 20 points on 14 attacks, three blocks, and three service aces, to go with 10 excellent digs and nine excellent receptions, to lead the Lady Spikers.

Baby Jyne Soreño and Alleiah Malaluan each finished with 12 points, while Amie Provido contributed 11 markers, including eight attacks, for the Lady Spikers, who notched their second straight win for a 3-2 record./PN
