BFP holds livelihood training for Silay residents

BACOLOD City – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Silay City, Negros Occidental initiated a livelihood training for 56 residents at the city’s training center in Barangay Mambulac, on Monday, March 10.

The training program enabled participants to acquire basic knowledge on how to make arts and crafts made of polymer clay.

Participants were provided valuable skills, allowing them to learn the art of polymer clay crafting.

According to the BFP, the innovative approach also aims to raise awareness and support the community, especially women residents, in line with the celebration of the Women’s Month this March.

Moreover, the BFP, as part of the Fire Prevention Month also this March, shared fire safety tips to participants, underscoring how vital it is to stay safe while engaging in creative activities.

Silay City firefighters and Barangay Mambulac council emphasized that fire prevention is not just about fighting fires but also about empowering the community and fostering resilience in all areas of life.

City Fire Marshal Supt. Rodel Legaspi expressed gratitude to Barangay Mambulac headed by Barangay Captain Hazel Cordero for fostering the value of cooperativeness in building a fire safe community.

This year’s Fire Prevention Month has the theme “Sa Pamilyang Nagdadamayan, Sunog ay Naiiwasan.”/PN
