Iloilo Provincial Population Office named most outstanding in WV

ILOILO – The Provincial Population Office (PPO) of Iloilo was recognized as one of the most outstanding in Western Visayas by the Commission on Population and Development 6 during the 2024 Population and Development (PopDev) Awards held on Tuesday, March 11, at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.

Atty. Ruel Von Superio, the provincial population officer, was also honored for his efforts that contributed significantly to the province’s victory. His leadership played a key role in Iloilo’s recognition as the Most Outstanding Population Office in the 2024 Localization of the Philippine Population and Development Plan of Action (PPD-POA).

The province also earned several accolades across different program areas for its achievements:

* 152% of adolescents reached in the advancement of Adolescent Health and Development (AHD)

* 833% increase in new Family Planning (FP) acceptors in promoting Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP)

* 118% of couples/individuals reached in promoting Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP)

* successful implementation of the population and development strategy targeting Special Population Groups (SPG)

Superio was joined by Janel Alegata, chief of the PPO Field Operations Division; Shiela Mae Tuares, training and research officer; and Jessa Salido, statistician, in receiving the award.

Meanwhile, PPO’s Chona Lynn Contreras received recognition on behalf of the Municipality of Calinog for its active participation in the Population Health and Environment (PHE) project.

The municipalities of Ajuy, Maasin, and Concepcion were also acknowledged for their contributions to the PHE project.
