MANILA – Malacañang denied social media rumors that First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos was held by law enforcers in the United States following her recent visit in Los Angeles.

According to Presidential Communications Office’s Undersecretary Claire Castro, Araneta-Marcos has already returned to country earlier this week and has attended various events.

“There is no truth that FL was held by any law enforcers while in LA or and in any other place,” Castro said in a statement on Thursday morning.

Castro said that the First Lady had a working visit to the US to participate in the Meeting of the Minds and the Manila International Film Festival. She was in Miami, Florida and Los Angeles, California from March 5 to 8.

Araneta-Marcos returned to Manila around 5 a.m. on Monday, March 10 and went straight to her residence.

Castro further said Araneta-Marcos led the turnover of donations to the Girl Scouts of the Philippines in her office in Manila.

Various social media pages posted that Araneta-Marcos was detained in Los Angeles for undisclosed reasons./PN
