AKLAN – Visitor arrivals in Boracay Island reached 374,958 for the first two months of 2025, slightly higher than the 347,277 recorded in the same period last year.
Foreign tourists made up 27 percent of the January-February arrivals, or 100,569 persons.
According to statistics released by Malay Municipal Tourism Office, the total number of international tourist arrivals in February reached 46,006 and 54,563 in January.
The surge in tourist arrivals at the start of this year was driven by strong demand of Boracay as a must-visit destination and the emerging cruise market, the local tourism office added.
Diniwid, White and Puka beaches in Boracay made it in the list of Top 10 Beaches in the Philippines for 2025 by the world’s biggest travel site Trip Advisor.
The world-class island also welcomed its ninth cruise ship over the first two months this year carrying thousands of tourists and crew members.
Given the surging inbound travel, the island is poised to surpass the 191,326 tourists recorded in March last year. Arrivals in 2025, meanwhile, are expected between 2 million to 2.2 million.
Boracay registered 2,077,977 inbound tourists from January to December last year, pushing the average arrivals to 5,600. The largest source markets in 2024 were Korea, China, USA, Taiwan, and Australia./PN
