Liberation of Panay: A Historic Victory
The Liberation of Panay, observed annually on March 18, marks the day in 1945 when joint Filipino and American forces freed the adjacent islands of Panay, Guimaras, and Romblon from Japanese occupation during World War II.
Led by the Philippine Commonwealth troops and local guerrilla forces, the liberation was a significant milestone in the country’s fight for freedom, restoring local governance and ending years of hardship under enemy rule.
The job fair serves as a tribute to this historic event, reinforcing the importance of resilience and progress by providing livelihood opportunities for the people of Panay./PN
