WITH the onset of summer and Department of Health/Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration warnings of dangerous heat indices, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) reminds the public that it covers hospitalizations for heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke, heat cramps, and heat exhaustion, ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage for all Filipinos.
“Members and their dependents admitted to any PhilHealth-accredited health facilities due to heat stroke or heat exhaustion are entitled to a benefit package of P12,675. In cases of heat fatigue requiring hospitalization, the benefit package is at P18,135,” assured Dr. Edwin M. Mercado, Acting President and Chief Executive Officer of PhilHealth.
PhilHealth encourages early intervention against heat-related conditions and reminds members and their families to utilize the free Konsulta Package for consultations and symptom checks to mitigate potential severity.
“We urge our members to be vigilant, stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and seek immediate medical attention if they experience any symptoms,” the PhilHealth chief added.
