P1.3-M worth of shabu seized in 24-hour Iloilo City drug busts

ILOILO City – A series of police operations within 24 hours led to the seizure of P1.3-million worth of suspected shabu and the arrest of four individuals, including a top-listed drug personality, according to the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).

The operations, conducted between March 13 and 14 resulted in the confiscation of 189 grams of shabu in separate buy-busts across the city.

Among those apprehended was alias “Toto Chard”, 31, a mechanic from Barangay Magsaysay, La Paz district, who was identified as Iloilo City’s No. 2 priority drug personality.

He was arrested by officers from the Iloilo City Police Station 2 (ICPS2) at 9:50 p.m. with 70 grams of shabu worth P476,000 seized from him.

In a separate operation, alias “Rain”, 37, from Barangay M.H. Del Pilar, Jaro district was arrested at 10:35 p.m. by ICPS9, with 60 grams of shabu valued at P408,000 confiscated.

Alias “Noy Apa”, 43, from Barangay Hibao-an Sur, Mandurriao district, was arrested in another buy-bust operation conducted by ICPS10 in Barangay Tabucan, Mandurriao. Authorities recovered 70 grams of shabu, worth P476,000.

A fourth suspect, alias “Billy”, 47, from Barangay Onate De Leon, Mandurriao, classified as a street-level individual (SLI), was arrested by ICPS5 at 10:50 p.m. Authorities seized three sachets of shabu worth P27,200 from him.

ICPO director Police Colonel Kim Legada commended the law enforcement teams for their continued success in dismantling drug networks.

“This is a testament to our sustained efforts in combating illegal drugs. We call on the community to support our campaign and help us identify those involved in the drug trade,” Legada said.

The suspects are facing charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, while investigations continue into possible larger drug networks./PN
