MAYMAY Entrata is speculated to be the singer behind the Filipino rendition of “Waiting on a Wish,” the theme song of the live-action film “Snow White,” ahead of its release in the Philippines.
Disney Studios Philippines released a clip of a mystery singer performing the Filipino version of “Waiting on a Wish,” whose features closely resembled the actress-singer, notably her jawline and eyes, as well as her voice.
“Sa panaginip lang / Dilag na may tapang / Magagawa kayang matagpuan / Nasa’an ang hiling,” she sang in the clip, in what seemed to be a background resembling the magical wonderland of the film.
“Ang tunay niyang ganda, sa lahat naiiba (Her true beauty stands out from the rest). A voice like no other is bringing magic to ‘Waiting on a Wish.’ Can you guess who?” the post read.
Netizens speculated the singer to be Entrata in the quotes and replies.
Neither Entrata nor the local branch of the production company made a confirmation, as of press time.
“Waiting on a Wish” is the theme song of the live-action adaptation of “Snow White” performed by its lead star Rachel Zegler. It also stars Gal Gadot, Andrew Burnap, Ansu Kabia, Hadley Fraser, and Lorena Andrea.
“Snow White” is based on Walt Disney’s 1937 animated film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” and the 1812 fairytale by the Brothers Grimm. The film will premiere in the Philippines on March 19.
Entrata announced last February that she’s gearing up for new music which has been in the works for over a year. Details are yet to be announced. (Hannah Mallorca © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
