PRO-6 prepares security measures for local campaign period

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) is set to implement security measures for the start of the local campaign period on March 28, aligning with its overall preparations for the May 12, 2025, national and local elections.

PRO-6 spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis said security plans for the local campaign have been integrated into earlier preparations for the national campaign.

“Our security plan is already in place as part of our overall strategy for the May 12 elections,” Solis said.

PRO-6 is coordinating with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the Joint Security Control Center (JSCC), the Philippine Coast Guard, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines to ensure peace and order throughout the election period.

Strategic Deployment of Personnel

Provincial and city police offices have identified their personnel requirements, including areas needing additional security forces.

“Our provinces have determined how many police personnel they need and which areas lack security presence. Our personnel division is assessing where additional officers can be deployed to fill these gaps,” Solis said.

While PRO-6 may not fully meet the requested number of personnel, Solis assured that sufficient forces will be deployed to support election security.

“If we cannot provide the full number of personnel requested, we will ensure that a reasonable number of officers are assigned to assist in securing their areas of responsibility,” he said.

Solis emphasized the need for provincial and city police directors to maximize available resources and strategize personnel deployment.

“Our commanders must plan their personnel distribution efficiently. We will only provide additional officers based on available capacity because we need to maintain reserves,” he added.

PRO-6 reiterated its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and orderly election.

“Our goal is to maintain peace and order throughout the election period through a well-planned deployment strategy,” Solis said./PN
