Drunk fisherman drowns in Antique

ANTIQUE – What was believed to be a casual swim turned tragic after an alleged drunk fisherman drowned off the coast of Barangay Poblacion, Sebaste town.

The 43-year-old alias “Fel,” a resident of Barangay Sto. Rosario, Pandan town was with his companions when he suddenly dove into the water at around noontime on Monday, April 7. Minutes passed and he failed to resurface, prompting his companions to search underwater, eventually pulling him out unconscious.

Efforts were made to revive him on board a motorized boat as they rushed to the Sebaste Community Hospital but the attending physician later declared him dead on arrival at the said hospital.

Following the incident, Sebaste police reminded the public to avoid water activities when intoxicated./PN
