ILOILO – Allegedly drunk, a motorcyclist died and his backrider was injured after their vehicle crashed into a concrete wall in Barangay Alacaygan, Banate town.
Banate police said alias “Jenel”, 21, was pronounced dead on the spot while his backrider, alias “Kram”, 21, sustained injuries but survived the accident.
Both men were residents of Purok 3, Barangay Bulaqueña, Estancia, Iloilo.
According to Police Staff Sergeant Meriel Egona of the Banate Municipal Police Station, the two were traveling from Estancia and heading toward Iloilo City when the incident occurred on Sunday night, April 13.
Egona said the road in the area was slightly curved, but for unknown reasons the motorcycle continued going straight and crashing into a wall near the Catunao family residence.
The police officer added that the impact of the crash caused significant damage to the motorcycle.
As of this writing, Banate police were still investigating the accident, including whether speed, road conditions, or other factors contributed to the tragic incident./PN
