ILOILO City – Both the Iloilo Provincial Government and Iloilo City Government will implement a work-from-home arrangement on Wednesday morning, April 16, followed by the suspension of work in the afternoon.
The move aims to allow government employees the opportunity to observe Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
This decision is in compliance with Memorandum Circular No. 81 issued by the Office of the President, which grants government employees full opportunity to observe the holy Lent days of April 17-18 and to facilitate travel.
In accordance with the memorandum, the following work arrangements will be adopted on April 16:
* Work from home will be observed from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., subject to existing laws, rules, and regulations.
* Work in government offices will be suspended starting at 12 p.m.
However, government agencies whose functions are essential, such as those involved in the delivery of basic services, healthcare, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services, will continue operations under their usual working arrangements.
Private companies and offices in both the city and province may choose to adopt similar work-from-home arrangements or suspend work, at the discretion of their respective employers.
Iloilo City’s Mayor Jerry Treñas issued Executive Order No. 036, adopting the same work-from-home and work suspension measures for the Iloilo City Government.
“The adoption of work-from-home and suspension of work for private companies, agencies, and organizations is left to the discretion of their respective heads of operations or employers,” the mayor’s office added./PN
