ILOILO – Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. is meeting anew the leaders of various transport groups in the province this afternoon to hear their assessment of the two-week implementation of Iloilo City’s Comprehensive Perimeter Boundary Ordinance (CPBO) that began on June 3.
The CPBO allots only four car passes per town regardless of the number of jeepney units a transport association may have, unlike in the original PBO where the number of car passes issued were based on a percentage of the number of jeepney units plying a particular route.
Wednesday last week, the governor listened to the sentiments of the Confederation of Iloilo Province Jeepney Owners and Drivers Association Inc. (CIPJODA) headed by Proceso Parreño.
CIPJODA sought the governor’s intervention on the issue because CPBO is crippling their operations and causing inconvenience and additional fare expense on the part of passengers from the towns and barangays.
Defensor will also meet with Iloilo City’s Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog next week to discuss the concerns of the transport groups regarding CPBO.
On Monday, Iloilo City Loop Alliance of Jeepney Owners and Drivers Association (ICLAJODA) president Boyet Parcon and Janiuay, Iloilo transport group president Ildefonso Peñaflorida engaged in a heated argument that nearly resulted to a physical confrontation.
This, after ICLAJODA allowed a Mandurriao jeep to pick up passengers at the transport terminal in Brgy. Ungka, Jaro, Iloilo City without special permit from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board./PN
