POTOTAN, Iloilo – An afternoon fire razed the Jalaur-Suage River Irrigation Training Center in Brgy. Cato-ogan here yesterday.
According to PO2 Mark Parreño of the Pototan police, the fire broke out around 3 p.m.
Damage was estimated to have reached P2 million.
Among the damaged equipment inside the training center were an air-conditioner and training tools.
Initial investigation of the Bureau of Fire Protection showed that electrical short circuit could be the possible cause of the fire.
The said building, already 33 years old, had old and decaying electrical lines.
Parreño said they immediately called up the BFP after a concerned citizen reported the fire.
Their quick response prevented the fire from creeping to neighboring commercial establishments.
The training center was managed by the National Irrigation Administration 6./PN
