BACOLOD City — Mayor Monico Puentevella said he will conduct more football tournaments here when he comes back from the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Puentevella said he was inspired by the ongoing World Cup.

The mayor is a member of the FIFA TV and Marketing Committee, alongside Philippine Football Federation president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta and PFF secretary-general Edwin Gastanes.

Puentevella said he will invite FIFA president Joseph Blatter to witness these tournaments.

He will also invite officials of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) along with the president, Shiek Salman, to witness the tournaments after the 60th AFC Convention in Manila next year.

Puentevella said there should be football-related projects in the city to usher in donations for mini football fields.

He said he would ask five public schools in the city to start such projects./PN
