Man kills sister’s live-in partner

BACOLOD City — A man in Talisay City is facing homicide charges for stabbing to death the live-in partner of his sister.

Suspect Dionisio Cataluña was coming to the aid of his siblings Josephine and Jaime when he attacked Alberto Borda in Brgy. Katilingban, said Chief Insp. Joeresty Coronica, Talisay police chief.

Cataluña fled after the incident. Talisay police are now hunting him.

On Sunday, a drunken Borda, a 52-year-old former soldier, had with his live-in partner, Josephine, an altercation that led to hitting, investigation showed.

Jaime came to Josephine’s rescue but was stabbed by Borda using a jungle knife.

Upon seeing the incident, Cataluña, armed with a kitchen knife, charged. He and Borda grappled for the kitchen knife, but he overpowered the former military man and stabbed him multiple times.

Borda was rushed to a clinic in the city but was declared dead on arrival. He succumbed to stab wounds in the body and arms.

Coronica said homicide charges will be filed against Cataluña./PN
