LAMBUNAO, Iloilo – Police investigators are still puzzled whether the 60-year-old victim of a gunshot had lost his penis to a gunshot wound or had cut if off himself.
Based on police investigation, Romeo Canja was walking “wild” with a bolo in hand around 7 a.m. on Sunday, Father’s Day, in Brgy. Caguisanan, this municipality, when shot by an unknown gunman.
Residents thereafter brought the victim to a hospital where an attending physician discovered the tip of his penis severed.
While the police could not yet pinpoint who could have shot Canja, they said it was probably to abort a graver crime.
Before felled by a gunshot wound, the victim was hacking the house of a certain Roosevelt Cabanero with his bolo and threatening to harm two persons thereat.
Romeo Canja, a resident of Brgy. Cabatangan, is reportedly suffering from a nervous breakdown.
“We could not conclude yet if somebody cut his penis off or it was he who cut it. Nobody would tell us of the identity of the culprit,” Chief Insp. Elmer Armada, Lambunao police chief, said./PN
