ROXAS City — The Rotary Club District 3690 of South Korea donated cash and school supplies to schools in areas in Capiz badly hit by super typhoon “Yolanda.”

Rotary Club District 3850 Governor Mark Anthony Ortiz said the beneficiaries were:

  • Don Jose Acevedo Elementary School in Brgy. Liong, Roxas City
  • Olotayan Elementary School in Brgy. Olotayan, Roxas City; and
  • Sto. Niño Elementary School in Dumalag town.

Each primary school got about $10,000 cash, said Ortiz, a former city councilor.

The Korean Rotary Club also donated $50,000 cash to Capiz National High School, which used the amount to build 22 classrooms.

Ortiz said both the cash and school supplies donations came from the 17 districts of the Korean Rotary Club.

At the office of Mayor Angel Alan Celino on Monday, the mayor and Rotary Club District 3690 Governor Kyung-Ha Lee exchanged tokens of gratitude: a jeepney figurine from Celino and a District 3690 banner from Lee.

Edalyn Acta of the Rotary Club of Metro Roxas–Central said the donations were a big help to the beneficiaries.

Acta said Ortiz facilitated the visit of the South Korean Rotarians to Capiz./PN
