ILOILO City – A painter and a taxi driver were arrested in a drug operation in Brgy. Benedicto, Jaro district.
The 31-year-old Aram Gumban of said place tried to escape upon sensing that the person who had bought from him a sachet of shabu was a member of the Jaro police station.
The police quickly collared Gumban around 5 p.m. on Tuesday after he yielded six big sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia used in sniffing shabu and an unlicensed .45 pistol with two ammunitions.
Gumban worked in Boracay Island as a painter.
The raiding team led by Jaro police chief, Chief Insp. Rhea Santos also arrested Loijie Amo, 35, of Brgy. Agnaga, Concepcion, Iloilo and a driver of Solomon taxi.
Amo was arrested for visiting a drug den.
He told Santos, however, that he had no idea that Gumban was a drug dealer.
Amo said Gumban was a friend of his mother and that he came merely for a cup of coffee.
Gumban and Amo are now detained at the cell of Jaro police station./PN
