DUEÑAS, Iloilo – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 6 and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) are targeting four big-time drug pushers and high-value targets in this town.
Director Paul Ledesma yesterday revealed that one of the four is a politician.
After he lost in the last election, this politician reportedly began to engage in sale of illegal drugs.
Ledesma, however, refused to name this politician.
PDEA and the police conducted a drug symposium yesterday in Dueñas.
ust recently, IPPO director, Senior Supt. Cornelio Salinas directed his police chiefs to conduct clearing operations in drug-affected barangays in their areas.
Salinas told his police chiefs to clear at least two barangays within the months of June to August and monitor the movements of drug pushers in coordination with municipal officials, other government agencies like the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health and Department of Education.
He also encouraged Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADACs) and the community to help the police.
The provincial police director has already sent letters to municipal mayors and concerned agencies regarding this program./PN
