BORACAY — Three men from Iloilo were arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in this island resort.
The suspects were identified as Vincent Aldrick Checa David, 30, of Brgy. Infante, Molo, Iloilo City; Arvin Abaya, 20, of Carles town; and Agustin Jubilag, 21, a tattoo artist from Dingle town.
Operatives of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group (PAIDSOTG) and the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center staged the operation in front of Crafts de Boracay on Main Road, Brgy. Balabag, at about 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Insp. Wilfredo Hofileña, chief of PAIDSOTG, said the suspects sold to a poseur buyer a plastic sachet of suspected shabu for P1,000.
“Malilito ka sa operation ng tatlong suspects na ito, kaso nalaman na namin bago pa man sila hulihin sa buy-bust (How the suspects operate was quite confusing, but we figured it out even before the buy-bust),” Hofileña said.
Further recovered from the suspects were three plastic sachets of suspected shabu and a mobile phone containing text messages of drug transactions.
The suspects were detained in the lockup cell of BTAC.
They will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Kalibo, Aklan. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
