KALIBO, Aklan — Aklan rated high in terms of compliance with conditions under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

4Ps beneficiaries in the province have high compliance on health, family development sessions and education compared to other provinces in the region for the period January–February 2014, data from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6 showed.

Aklan has the highest compliance rate all over the region on regular checkups in barangay health centers with 97.77 percent.

It was followed by Guimaras with 96.08 percent and Iloilo with 96.01 percent.

Aklan’s poor school children also have a compliance rate of 93.42 percent on school attendance, way above the required 85 percent.

4Ps beneficiaries in the province also ranked first on family development sessions with a compliance rate of 96.74 percent.

Meanwhile, the province has released some P833 million cash to families under the 4Ps from 2008 to 2014, DSWD data showed.

As of April this year, 26,396 family beneficiaries in Aklan received P832,978,200.

Negros Occidental had P2.743 billion in cash grants for 121,925 beneficiaries, the biggest I nthe region.

It was followed by Iloilo, with P2.434 billion for 89,360 beneficiaries; Capiz, P975 million for 37,360 beneficiaries; Antique, P954 million for 28,002 beneficiaries; and Guimaras, P169 million for 7,948 beneficiaries.

Under the 4Ps, beneficiaries receive a health and nutrition grant of P500 each, while their children get an educational grant of P300 each. The grants are given monthly. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
