ROXAS City — A 32-year-old man was shot dead on Philippine Railway Street here.
Police said the fatal shooting of Henry Buenvinida Sr. was “drug-related.”
Information reaching the police had it that Buenvinida of Arnaldo Boulevard and the suspect, Edilberto Barredo Jr. of Philippine Railway Street, used to be cohorts in selling drugs, said city police chief, Supt. Julio Gustilo Jr.
But there was a falling out of sorts between the two because Buenvinida was replacing the drugs they were selling with fake ones, turning their customers off, Gustilo told Panay News in a phone interview.
Barredo, who was in the house of a certain Roldan, saw Buenvinida outside on Friday, came out and shot the latter.
Buenvinida was hit in the abdomen. He was taken to Capiz Emmanuel Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Barredo fled after the incident, bringing with him his weapon. As of press time, he remains at large and the firearm he used still unidentified./PN
