KALIBO, Aklan — Two employees from this capital town were among the semifinalists in the 2014 Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees.
The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has recently announced the individuals and groups vying for Presidential Lingkod Bayan, Pagasa Award for Outstanding Work Performance and Dangal ng Bayan Award for Exemplary Conduct and Behavior.
Municipal Local Government Operations Officer VI Maricel Bechayda of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) municipal office was one of the eight semifinalists for the Pagasa Award.
The award is given to individuals or groups with an outstanding idea or performance that directly benefitted more than one department of the government.
Bechayda was recognized as Best Employee and DILG–Kalibo as Best DILG Municipal Office in the region during the prestigious Search for Excellence in Local Governance Awards in January.
On the other hand, Agricultural Technologist Alicia Rebuelta will vie for Dangal ng Bayan Award along with 14 others.
The award is conferred to an individual for his/her extraordinary act or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior.
Dangal ng Bayan awardees will be selected based on their commitment to public interest, professionalism, justness and sincerity, political neutrality, responsiveness to the public, nationalism and patriotism, commitment to democracy, and simple living.
Rebuelta was cited as Outstanding Municipal Organic Agricultural Focal Person during the 55th anniversary of the Western Visayas Integrated Agricultural Center in Bacolod City last month.
Dangal ng Bayan awardees will take home P200,000 cash and a trophy designed by National Artist for Sculpture Napoleon Abueva.
Pagasa awardees will receive P100,000 cash, a gold-gilded medallion, and a plaque containing the citation and signature of CSC chairman Francisco Duque III.
The public are encouraged to send feedback on the semifinalists on or before July 1.
Awarding rites will be held at the Malacañang Palace in September to highlight the celebration of the 114th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
