ROXAS City — The mother of the Filamer Christian University (FCU) student who was allegedly mauled to death by four university guards has filed murder charges against the suspects.
Toni Russel Casipe’s mother, Erlinda, filed the complaint before the City Prosecutor’s Office the other day, Assistant City Prosecutor Fernald Jornales said.
The respondents were Rojien Borbon, Wilbert Opeñano, Hubert Villaluz and Henry Brillo.
Jornales said the suspects opted for a preliminary investigation and will submit a counter-affidavit before July 7 in exchange for a 15-day detention.
A clarificatory hearing was scheduled to be held on the same day.
Jornales said the deadline for the result of the medico-legal exam on Casipe’s body is June 30.
The assistant city prosecutor also said the decision to junk, proceed or file a different case must be resolved on or before July 10.
The autopsy on the victim’s body has yet to be conducted as of this writing.
All the suspects were detained in the city police station.
Police said Borbon prevented Casipe from entering FCU’s annex campus in Brgy. Punta Tabuc here on Sunday evening.
Casipe allegedly went berserk and had a scuffle with Borbon. Borbon then called for help from the three other guards.
Policemen and Capiz Emergency Response Team (CERT) members later found Casipe lying near a basketball court. His legs were tied using a yellow nylon cord.
CERT members rushed the 28-year-old electronics and communications engineering student to the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital, but the victim was declared dead on arrival./PN
