Mr. Rain has come parading in as everyone bid goodbye to their sun-kissed skins and beach adventures. After the mighty display of its bright and scorching heat the past months, Mr. Sun’s prowess has finally exited the limelight.
It is a fact that the Philippines have only two weather conditions. So basically, it is a close fight between hot and cold – summer and rainy season.
Just two weeks ago, the Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced the start of the rainy season.
The rainy season in the country usually starts at June and is apparently accompanied by heavy rains and flooding. It peaks from July up to December where strong and devastating typhoons pass across the country.
However, PAGASA also advised the public to save water in preparation for the predicted El Niño phenomenon.
Also, with lots of water comes the entrance of water-borne diseases, flu, dengue fever and leptospirosis. With that in mind, the Department of Health advises the public to be more vigilant as they intensify their health campaigns caused by rainy weather.
Despite the impending presence of storms, diseases and floods, the wet season also has its ups. Everyone is now spotted wearing cozy, adorable sweatshirts, boots and colorful umbrellas to welcome a cool lazy weather. Because of the coolness in the surrounding, getting out of bed and taking a bath has now become a challenge. One also craves for some hot ramen noodles to ease the coldness absorbing in our bodies.
Though we don’t get to experience playing in the snow and are just stuck with the sun and rain, the most important thing is learning how to enjoy with what you have./PN
