ILOILO – “Solve your differences internally.”
This was the advice of Negros Occidental provincial administrator Enrique Pinongan to the members of the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees (PACE).
Dino Gasendo, president of PACE, slammed the alleged moves of some employees to form a new union.
It would be “divisive and jeopardizes the benefits being lobbied by PACE with Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr.,” he warned.
Gasendo identified Neil Mapa, a former PACE officer, as the one reportedly behind the plan to form a new organization of capitol employees.
But Mapa denied this.
“We merely want amendments to the union’s constitution and by-laws, and PACE officers should answer our questions on the union’s financial standing. We do not want to create a new group,” Mapa clarified.
Pinongan said he received a letter from some employees concerning union- related matters and referred it to the Provincial Legal Office.
“If the issues are not threshed out internally, these would cause conflict among employees,” he warned.
Pinongan advised PACE officials to present a detailed explanation of the issues raised by the employees.
“If there are confidential matters, they could do it in an executive session,” he said./PN
