BACOLOD City — A young policeman from Manapla town was arrested for possession of drugs and unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Twenty-four-year-old PO1 Reylan Berja Dordas, an alleged drug supplier in Victorias City, also tested positive for drug use.
Victorias policemen conducting “Oplan Bakal” — an operation against loose firearms — collared Dordas in a KTV bar in Bangga Daanbanwa in the city at about 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Dordas yielded an elongated sachet of shabu and a homemade .38-caliber firearm with six live ammunition.
He was charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and illegal possession of firearms before the Victorias City Prosecutor’s Office.
Dordas, a resident of Hacienda Mauyon, Brgy. Punta Mesa, Manapla, was relieved from his post in the Regional Public Safety Battalion in Camp Aniceto Lacson in Victorias on June 24.
He was supposed to report to his new assignment at the Capiz Police Provincial Office.
Supt. Santiago Rapiz, Victorias City police chief, said Dordas allegedly sold illegal drugs and unlicensed firearms in the city.
Dordas, who entered the police service in 2012, was facing summary dismissal.
His commander, the RPSB director Senior Supt. Remus Zacharias Canieso, recommended the drug test.
Rapiz said they were monitoring another policeman allegedly engaged in the drug and illegal guns trade. He refused to disclose the policeman’s identity./PN
