ILOILO City – The business process outsourcing (BPO) industry here is starting to boom as investors choose to pour their money in this part of the country.
As BPO companies mushroom in Iloilo City, its first home grown BPO company, Callbox, considers this scenario a complement rather than a threat.
Callbox Chief Executive Officer Rom Agustin welcomes other BPO companies in the city with open arms.
“I love the fact that there are so many other BPO companies who would like to invest here,” he said.
He added the emergence of BPO companies in Iloilo City will be of much help as they now have found partners when it comes to training their employees.
Agustin noted that most of their company’s expenses were spent on employees’ trainings since they started ten years ago.
“I am thankful to other BPO companies as they helped us in providing the manpower of the industry the proper training in preparation for the job,” he noted.
BPO employees are usually trained in a specific period of time depending on the protocol followed by the company to supply the right knowledge in different situations, part of the nature of the job.
These trainings include basic training on English language and Product Specialty Training.
He also extends his support to the city government’s call in attracting more BPO companies to invest. “Iloilo needs international companies to train people…When they have that, we will have significant growth,” Agustin concluded./PN
