ILOILO City – The districts of La Paz and Lapuz have been shaken by a series of robbery incidents. The culprits all attacked houses while the owners were sleeping.
Thirty-six-year-old Fatima Tria of Brgy. Sinikway, Lapuz said her house was looted around 3 a.m. of July 7.
It was her mother, Consolida Libo-on, 69, who discovered the pre-dawn intrusion, said Tria.
The robbers took away several pieces of jewelry and electronic gadgets placed on top of a cabinet.
All items lost were valued at P120,000, said Tria.
In Barangay Tabuc Suba, La Paz, a house was looted on the same day.
According to Ruby Ann Mondejar, 21, her cellphone worth P600 and black headset worth P310 were taken away.
She discovered the robbery around 4:15 a.m. upon waking up, said Mondejar.
Still in Barangay Tabuc Suba, 18-year-old Mae Joy Cabaya complained to the La Paz police station that thieves barged into her room while she was sleeping soundly.
When she woke up around 4:10 a.m., Cabaya said she could no longer find her cellphone worth P1,500.
Since there were no signs of forcible entry, police investigators said the thief may have likely entered Cabaya’s room through the door.
The door may have been left unlocked or that the robber had the skill to unlock it./PN
