ILOILO City – An unlicensed firearm and illegal drugs led to the arrest of two brothers in Barangay Canas, San Dionisio, Iloilo.
Jose Vic Baco, 32, and elder brother Lawrence, 36, were detained at the San Dionisio police station following their arrest around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at their house.
The Baco brothers were the suspected sources of illegal drugs not only in San Dionisio but in neighboring towns, according to Insp. Nerio Alanan, San Dionisio police chief.
The police recovered 17 sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu), a homemade 12-gauge shotgun and drug paraphernalia used in sniffing shabu.
“They were high-value targets we have been hunting since last year,” Alanan said.
In a related story, records from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) from January to June this year showed 545 drug personalities arrested in 351 drug operations.
Out of that number, 425 were drug pushers and 120 drug users.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office had the highest number of arrested drug personalities (122), followed by Negros Police Provincial Office (106), Bacolod City Police Office (94), Iloilo City Police Office (93), Aklan (64), Capiz (38), Antique (nine), and Guimaras (seven)./PN
