BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) Season 34 opens on September 12 at the University of St. La Salle (USLS) Coliseum here.
Basketball and volleyball are considered the top attractions in the annual competition.
In collegiate men’s basketball, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Rams is eyeing back-to-back titles this year dominated for years by the West Negros University Mustangs.
Last year’s first runner-up USLS Stingers, the Mustangs as well as Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod Eagles will crowd the Rams for the crown.
La Salle remains the dominant team in both men’s and women’s volleyball as well as men’s football.
St. John’s Institute’s high school girls’ volleyball team is expected to meet a strong challenge from the Malot Lozada-mentored USLS – Integrated School.
The NOPSSCEA new set of officer that will serve for two years is headed by Bob Bergante of USLS.
