ILOILO – The Department of Tourism (DOT) wants more accredited tour operators andguides in Guimaras province.
Competent tour guides give a “tourist-friendly ambiance” and increase the chances of tourists coming back, according to Regional Director Helen Catalbas.

The island province currently has 16 DOT-accredited tourism related establishments, including resorts, pension houses and tourist inns.
Guimaras has a lot of tourism destinations and products to offer, and more accredited tour operators and guides are needed to sell them, saidCatalbas.

Aside from its famous mangoes, Guimaras also offers beaches and diving and marine spots, nature-based tourism, ecotourism and agri-tourism, among others.

“We need to make sure tourists get to experience the best of Guimaras,” she said.

Catalbassaid they were looking for tour guides who could work full-time.

Guimaras is an ideal complementary destination as it is just 15 minutes away from Iloilo City, she said. (PNA)
