KALIBO, Aklan – Police advised the public to be vigilant in the days leading to the Yuletide and the Ati-Atihan Festival.

They should be cautious and on the lookout for criminals, said Chief Inspector Terence Paul Sta. Ana, acting municipal police chief.

Police officers and soldiers from the Philippine Army’s 12th Infantry Battalion continue setting up 24/7 checkpoints along the highway in Barangay Linabuan Norte and near the Kalibo International Airport in Barangay Pook.

“We have lightning and random checkpoints to thwart crimes,” stressed Sta. Ana.

Mobile patrols were deployed in commercial areas and areas of convergence.

Police warned that motorists violating municipal ordinances and persons possessing loose firearms will be arrested.
Sta. Ana said they have also intensified operations against the sale of counterfeit products.

Police caught three persons selling fake cigarettes and another vending fake shampoo and soap in separate entrapments earlier this week.
Sta. Ana also warned against counterfeit money that may circulate during the holiday and festival seasons. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
