ROXAS City — New officials of the Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines (FSCAP), Inc.’s provincial and municipal chapters in Capiz have been inducted at the Capiz Gymnasium here.
Isaias Arboleda Jr. had been elected president of FSCAP-Capiz.
Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. officiated the oath-taking of the new officials on April 29.
In a symposium that followed the induction, members of the federation were oriented on the privileges and benefits they can get by virtue of Republic Act 9994 or the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010.
Arboleda lamented that some local government units, including barangays, in the province do not implement the law well.
But the new leader of senior citizens in the province did not identify the “erring” local governments.
Vice Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras, for his part, said senior citizens could avail themselves of the benefits and privileges due them only if they were informed about them.
In a message, Tanco said the Expanded Senior Citizens Act is “not enough to meet [the senior citizens’] needs,” but the provincial government is doing its best to “thoroughly and effectively implement it.”/PN
