ILOILO City – Over P284 million worth of roads and bridges will be constructed in the provinces of Iloilo and Aklan.
Public bidding for these projects was conducted on Sept. 20 at the regional office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
In Iloilo, over P40 million worth of projects include the concreting, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and upgrading of 1.65 km of roads in the towns of Cabatuan, New Lucena and Bangga Bante in Zarraga.
During the bidding, nine construction firms participated. Sargasso Construction won. It offered the lowest bid at P36.9 million.
On the other hand, the longest bridge in the region will soon rise in the town of Kalibo, Aklan, announced DPWH assistant regional director Jose Al Fruto, the chairman of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC).
Fruto said the initial budget of this 777-meter bridge that would start from Kalibo’s circumferential road going to barangays Calangcang and Mina reached P243.5 million.
These two projects are expected to be completed within 120 days.
Fourteen construction firms joined the bidding. Advance Foundation Allencon District Corp. bagged the project with its P234 million bid./PN
