ILOILO City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Listahanan program, has listed a total of252,584 poor households in Western Visayas.

Out of these households, 128,498 are in Iloilo; 43,147 in Antique; 41,764 in Capiz; 29,915 in Aklan; and 9,260 in Guimaras.

DSWD regional director Rebecca Geamala said the result of the 2015 National Household Targeting Unit (NHTU) or the Listahanan program in the region will be used as basis of stakeholders for identifying the programs and services for the poor.

During the recent Listahanan launching, Geamala revealed the regional profile of the poor in Western Visayas such as:

* magnitude of poor households by province
* magnitude of poor living in urban and rural areas
* by water sources, electricity and toilet facilities
* poor individuals by sectors and by primary occupation.
Geamala said these data will be given to other government line agencies, local government units (LGUs) as well as non-government organizations to help them come up with programs and services that can help the poor. (DSWD-6/PN)
