PNP: Over 1.2T killed, 18T arrested in war on drugs

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday said over 1,200 suspected drug personalities have been killed since the government launched its campaign against illegal drugs.

The PNP said in a report that 1,216 suspects have been killed between July 1 and Sept. 24 as of 6:00 a.m.

During the same period, 19,935 anti-drugs operations have been conducted under “Oplan Double Barrel,” resulting in the arrest of 18,873 suspects.
Under Oplan Double Barrel, the PNP targets both “big-time” and “small-time” drug dealers.

Meanwhile, the PNP said over 1.2 million houses nationwide have been visited by the police in its “OplanTokhang” against illegal drugs from July 1 to Sept. 24.

Under OplanTokhang, the police visit the houses of suspected drug personalities and encourage them to stop dealing with drugs.
In 1,217,546 house visits, there have been 721,067 surrenderees.

The figure includes 53,499 suspected drug pushers and 667,568 drug users. (GMA News)
