DUMAGUETE City – Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo declared he will triple the budget for closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to be installed across the city.
If the city government is going to maintain a reliable monitoring system, the P15-million initial appropriation is so small, Remollo said.
The mayor disclosed he wants the budget raised to P50 million.
This will include the construction of a control center for all the cameras to be put up throughout the poblacion and the outskirts of the city.
Funding may be taken from savings, while there must be a P20-million yearly budget for CCTV cameras in the barangays, including a free Wi-Fi, he said.
Meanwhile, Remollo also instructed the City Planning Office and the City Development Council to allocate funds for the purchase of three brand new garbage compactors.
From 40 tons in previous months, daily garbage collection in the city almost doubled, recent data showed. (PNA)
