ILOILO City – A dead 48-year-old woman was found floating in a river near Jalandoni Estate in La Paz district yesterday.
A Philippine Red Cross identification card recovered from her body bore the name Lourdes Talon of Barangay Acuit, Barotac Neuvo, Iloilo.
Fisherman Eduardo Alacre spotted the floating body around 5:30 a.m. He immediately reported to the police.
The woman would be autopsied to know what caused her death, said Senior Insp. Edgar Anonoy, La Paz police chief.
The body did not bore signs of physical harm, said Anonoy.
“As of now we could not conclude that she jumped into the river or if somebody pushed her,” he added.
Perhaps she was robbed, Anonoy said.
Initial investigation showed that the woman’s husband was confined at the hospital in Barotac Nuevo and that he needed blood transfusion.
Family members said the woman had not returned home since July 20./PN
