Skeleton found in vacant lot

ILOILO City – A human skeleton was found in a vacant lot in Barangay Purok 1, Pavia, Iloilo.

It was still wearing a striped red-and-pink shirt and a pair of jeans, said PO3 John-john Serra, Pavia police investigator.

Angelo Asis, 27, discovered the skeleton around 3:30 p.m. yesterday. He told the Pavia police he was to dump garbage when he spotted it.

Rep. Arcadio Gorriceta reportedly owned the lot where the skeleton was found.

Near the skeleton was found a silver bracelet and necklace with a heart pendant engraved with the name Stephanie.

“As of now, we could not determine the skeleton’s gender. He or she could have been a murder victim,” Serra told Panay News.

An autopsy will hopefully shed light not only on the gender but also the cause of death, said Serra.

Dr. Owen Libaquin of the Police Regional Office 6 crime laboratory will conduct the autopsy.

“We have already informed all village chiefs in Pavia to check if there’s somebody missing in their area,” Serra said./PN
