MANILA – Sen. Leila de Lima likened the alleged evidence of Justice secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II against her to his wig – fake and cosmetics.
“There is nothing into it other than that. Nothing’s authentic,” said de Lima in a statement on Tuesday.
Aguirre previously said the Department of Justice (DOJ) is filing criminal cases against the senator over her reported drug links inside the New Bilibid Prison, which is being investigated by the House of Representatives.
The official also said they will ensure the former Justice secretary will be removed from office.
De Lima, however, said that unlike Aguirre’s toupee, the killings under the Duterte administration are “real.”
“What is tragic is that these killings continue unabated. Ang the criminals, including these so-called vigilantes, are getting bolder; while the victims are getting younger,” she said.
According to neophyte senator, about 20,584 minors have reportedly been exploited into drug use and peddling.
She urged the DOJ to work on the investigation and prosecution of drug syndicates./PN
